Afternoon, I have seen the head unit below on ebay, it seems reasonable, just wondered what you all though of it.
Oh and before anyone says, I know about the two round speakers sticking out the back of the car biggrin

The faceplate does have a bit of a front overhang, about 2-3cms, but I think this should just fit in the dash.

Thanks.

I had a look at getting something similar a while ago. I know the early versions had pretty bad write ups with head units failing, etc due to the heat they produced.

Personally I'd go for a nice 'normal' head unit with an ipod/usb input on it. Sony or Alpine, something along those lines...

No brand name mentioned, implied or on the box/face plate - in consumer electronics that usually means steer clear.

I just quite liked the idea of being able to watch a DVD or TV (for the passenger of course). I've seen some of the screens that slide out and flip up, but they always cover the heater controls, which would annoy me! smile

Seems far too cheap and no naming on it at all. Not even on the box!

If it were my money, I wouldn't even be looking at it as you can't be sure of the sound quality or how long it'll last.

Get something you know the name of.

in a chimaera it looks as though it would hit the gear knob when it folds down.
this kind of electronics is highly likely to disappoint i would think.

i have a simular no name one in my chimaera, works perfect bluetooth handsfree is fine, though the placing of the mic needs to be played with as can be quiet for the other caller.

sound wise, its better than the kenwood i removed from there, and i cant fault it and for the money, its amazing. if it lasts a year i will have had good value

Thanks T pot, thats the sort of response I was hoping for. A lot of these units are all made in the same factories as the bigger brands anyway, they just stick stick Sony on it and bump up the price. I've had several high-end units that have gone wrong. The one on eBay does have a 12 month warranty and is a UK seller too which is a help.
