Thanks to "Meatball" who advised me where to get an afterburner kit from:
http://www.quadconversions.com/tvr_led_afterburner...

Just one question please?
Is the done thing to paint them the same colour as the body or leave them shiny black as they come? Obviously if I were to paint them body colour, they'd be hidden behind the smoked perspex cover and the paint would look darker on the lights.

Which would look best please?

P.S. the car is sivery blue:

Cant answer the question as I don't have them yet but am thinking about it, can I ask a question?

Did you fit them yourself?

If so, how big a job was it and did they fit exactly or did you have to cut bits of the car or light surround away in order to get them to fit?

Cheers

I haven't fitted them yet but they do look pretty straight forward.

If your a complete novice, and don't do any work on the car, I wouldn't bother doing them yourself.

If on the other hand you do the odd bit here and there, I think you'd be OK fitting them.

I've had a lot of experience restoring old classics and am a chartered machanical engineer by trade so things like this don't phase me!

Cheers,
L33.

Why don't you just fit them without any sealant and see what they look like. Its only 5 mins to put your old ones back if you decide they need colour..

This is an option Dave.
I was just wondering what other peoples opinions were as to what looks best.

I think its a question of personal preference and regard to body colour and tint of perspex covers, all of which are variable wink

Hence, the suggestion to try the easiest solution first hehe

Cheers - I'll try without paint and see before I seal them in.

Lee, when you've installed them (pre or post painting) can you write up on this thread how easy/difficult it was to do - and what was involved that would perhaps require some 'manual skills' that I don't possess.

Cheers

I had mine painted and they look fantastic. In fact quadconversion is using a photo of my car in their Website. Mine is the dark stardust purple so it would not make a huge differece to most but it does to me personally having tested it out without painting. Without painting, it looks a after market part.
I guess it will be even worse for your lighter colour car.

Winston

Thanks Winston.
It was actually the picture of your car that made my mind up to go for the conversion in the first place.
Your car looks beautiful - especially with the black and white backdrop of the Hong Kong street:

Well I've been busy with my airbrush so there is no going back now:

Just need to lacquer them before I can fit them.

Hi Lee

mate of mine has just fitted these to his silver chim and left them black but it looks as if that might be a bit late to have a look at them first.

Plan to get these myself soon - did they cost you £87.50 ?!

See you soon

The £87.50 is a bit of a standing joke betweek the West Mids members.
Whatever you buy for your car, you tell wifey that it cost £87.50.
Pair of shocks? - £87.50
New hood? - £87.50
Complete engine rebuild? - £87.50.

It simply keeps marridges together for longer.

I did indeed buy from quad conversions. The listed price is £225 but when you phone and ask how much and give a sob story that your Fiesta Mk3 is only worth a grand and you can't justify spending that kinda money and can they do anything more with the price they will come down further.
You've guessed it - £87.50
