Interior Light
Discussion
Hi Chaps,
Any idea of this, not critical but annoying. The interior light is supposed to come on when you open the doors. Passenger side no problem but the driver side is tempremental, sometimes the light comes on, sometimes it doesnt, sometimes it comes on several seconds later if I happen to have moved in my seat! It's got to be something thats loose or a bad connection but what would be a quick easy thing to check?
Also, the actual interior light unit looks like something out of an old Ford or Vauxhall, has anyone fitted a nicer looking unit, and if so, any suggestions/issues?

The light is operated by a switch on the sill when you open the door (sitting in the car, open the door, look down on the outside of the body and it's there!). It's probably sticking (you might be able to get it working with a quick spray of silicon spray)
ETA it's also responsible for operating the alarm if the door's opened, so it'd be a good idea to get it working!

Yeah, agree with chim666, the door pin switch is the cheapist, tackyist, crapyist switch you could imagine considering the muck and moisture that it is soaked with.
Just remove the single self tapper and out it pops on the wire. Take a stiff wire brush or a bit of emery and clean the mating surfaces of the switch, or better still throw over the nearest hedge and get another from clever trevor or TRV parts shop. Give the spade connector a good clean while your at it.
Cheers.
