TVR Chim 500

1994 Silverstone Silver....the first ever 500 delivered in Jan 1994
I got my '500' brand new in Aug 1994 direct from the factory. I lived locally and often visited the factory. I have a photos of the build smile I asked for Griffth performance but with Chimaera looks and practicality. I wasn't the first to ask for this and I was told a few other owners had asked for the same spec and that TVR were 'considering' releasing the car officially as a Chimarea 500 (that is: 5L HC, Grif spec brakes and supsension, Grif 7 spoke alloys).

The '500' wasn't an official name for the Chimaera at the time, Aug 1994. I called it a 500 and asked TVR do the same but TVR's Dorothy Curaton, of Curaton green, said they hadn't yet agreed on what it would be called! They already had the Griffith 500 and were not sure if they wanted to use the '500' name for the Chimarea. She did agree to give me an engine badge that said 500HC. I still have it. Maybe I have the only badge like that?

When exactly was the Chimaera 500 an offical TVR model?
