The clutch is operated hydraulically. It may be that either the master or slave cylinder is failing. It may also be a mechanical problem with the release arm. I suggest you get a mechanic to have a look at it and see what's happening.

What do you mean? The biting point is near the floor?

Further to the earlier response, do you have clutch fluid running down the clutch pedal on to the floormat? Or is there any clutch fluid leaking under the car (driver's side of central about level with the door mirror)?

If you thought you had a cable clutch, sounds like you will probably need to top up with fluid. (DOT5.1) The res is under that black bulge that is screwed to the RH side wing in the engine bay. Top up, pump the pedal a bit, this should release a few bubbles if its been low. Then put the cap back on. See if that helps. If it doesnt, you may have problems. Next step would be to bleed the slave.

well had the result from perry about the clutch. Its the master slave cylinder apparently it is shot to bits. I have just worked out that everytime my car is in for work or service the sun comes out.

Ah well pick her up Saturday
