Right I going to fit some new trumpets, anything to look out for in getting the plenum off, what do I have to remove, the linkage on the throttle or just the cable ???, any ideas or thoughts welcome. many thanks

Easy job, just make sure you put everything back air tight, clean all the old sealer off & make sure you give the surfaces a generous amount of new sealant. I used Blue Hylomar on mine. Available in Halfrauds off the shelf.

if you are careful you can leave the throttle cable alone. just disconnect the fuel regulator vacumm pipe, inlet pipe and advance retard pipe, and unbolt the plenum, then carefully place it over the exhaust y piece on top of a thick pile of rags or folded blacket.

hehe The 'nibbled' bits are directly in line with the bolts so I didn't have to use a 'uj' extention.

It's easy to disconnect the cable, just pull the R clip and undo the outer with a large adjustable.

Remember to assume that at some point you are going to drop something down those trumpets. If you notice it, it will be a total pita to get whatever-it-is out, and will quite likely involve removing the head[s]. If you don't notice you stand a fair chance of lunching the engine when you come to start it. The moral of the story is be completely paranoid about working over the top of the engine once the plenum top comes off, don't give dirt/parts/tools the slightest opportunity to fall in, mask the openings off as soon as possible.
