My air-con seems to have stopped working. A lot of roof off driving weather recently and haven't been using it, but noticed now it's retired.

They're not that good when working, but I know what mine did when it was working and it's not doing any of that anymore (e.g. noise from pump when switching it on and less warm air from vents!).

Fuse (shared with interior light) is OK and I can hear the micro-switch clicking on the dial - is there another fuse/connector or relay somewhere that may be faulty or checks that I can do?

The main chceks are in the Bible 2. Sounds as if the system ha lost its gas through a pipe split or leak. This will cause a pressure switch to operate which inhibits any opeartion. Chcek that the electric clutch on the compressor is working when the air con is switched on. Apart from that take it to an air con guy!

Agree with Steve.

Normally it's a fractured or split pipe. There is an inherent stress point on the pipe from the compressor. Mine has a bracket on it to relieve the stress and after two failures is now ok.

Look for green goo coming out of the sysetm/pipes(which is the lubricant in the system).

An air con guy can inject dye into the system which will highlight any leaks, before they refill it, which I would suggest you consider doing.

Thanks for clearing up the things I could check for myself.

Dealer a bit far to go for this so I took it to a local garage, who gave system a service and found no evidence of leaks. Have added dye in case it does leak on the move, but been 2 weeks now and still working nicely.

I thought £80 was a bit steep, but he said if there is a leak he's missed, he'll sort it and refill for the cost of replacement parts only. Call it insurance I suppose.

Cheers

Mine is a bit green by the compressor/pipe.

My ac lasted about a year.

I got my Supra gassed last night by a guy my Dad knows, for £45.
I'd have been looking about £60-£70 from a dealer at least.

He is going to look at the Chim for me aswell, as the gas lasted less than 8 months.
