Is it a characteristic of the T5 box when coupled with the linkage system, short lever and high mounting position to require more effort than a gearbox in any other car? Has anyone put a taller gear knob on to aid leverage? Do these boxes take an exceptionally long time to loosen up?

Cheers, Jon.

I've never noticed any effort required in any of mine?

The gear change is positive and precise, always goes into gear and feels nice to use. Just takes that little bit more effort and gives the impression it cant be rushed.

I think it is a charateristic of the T5 box....... my replacement T5 box is a lot tighter then my old LT77 (Rover Box)..... more precise gear change, and can feel "notchy" if not moved just right
