Wiring question

I need to wire a live feed from the battery to my hid lights, instead of running a cable all the way through the engine bay to the passenger footwell would it be ok to pick up from the starter motors live? or a possible alternitive??..

Starter motor's fine, but remember to fit a fuse. Alternatively the alternator side of the 100A fuse, but you'd still need a fuse.

It's better to go from the battery or fusebox though, routing the cable under the dash and out over the nearside wheelarch.
