Alarm

The other day, i left the targa panel off windows up and back roof up locked car.

Went to pick up something i left on seat by leaning over the top, the alarm went off indicators flashing away but no sound from the siren, its a 96 N 4.0 any ideas??

Is it a Meta alarm? If so the sirens often fail because of rain and their stupid location in the front opening, you may need to replace the siren which are not so easy to get.

I had this problem with mine , it was a corroded connection block to the siren ( behind the grill ) fitted new connection block all ok

how do i tell if it is a meta alarm?

Well it says "META" on my blipper. It has three oblong rubber buttons at about 45 deg (they are all just one switch". Where is your siren and what does it look like? Mine is behind the grille and looks like this from the rear:
