Heating / ventilation fan stopped
Discussion
My Chimaera heating / ventilation fan has stopped working. It briefly re-started then died. Had the ECU replaced by dealer a couple of years ago - sounds like the same problem again.
Plan to have a look at it myself - anybody done this and can give advice on location and best method to access unit / typical faults - any help appreciated.

Did this not so long back!
ECU is under the dash, inspite of the concern everyone has about lifting the dash, it's not that bad. The ECU is quite obvious as it is attached to the fan switch by a long white ribbon cable. The connector had burnt out on mine so I opened up the unit to check that there was no obvious signs of damage/burning inside, and then soldered on a new wire and spliced it to the one that went to the burnt out connector. Works a treat!!

sorry don't know how to link it, they have chimaera workshop notes.
But basically you remove the small map pouch (2 screws) reach inside and loacate the two nuts. There is one up and forwards and one rear downwards and to the centre of the car. Then just lift the left side, if it's stuck, like mine was, it's probably just polish/cleaner/crap sticking it, so just persevere. You can then lift the left side which will give you enough access. The right side/whole dash is apparently a bit more difficult?

All three nuts are 10 mm, two to left of centre console and one right at the other end. One on right hand side a little more fiddly to get to but not a problem. Taking the whole top off makes life a lot easier if you want to have a proper play around in there. If you have a veneer dash take care, it is a little fragile.
