Bit of a daft question as its something i have done before, basically on sunday i decided to pop the roof panel in the boot and enjoy some open top motoring, but i couldnt for the life of me work out how to do it this time round, ended up very pissed off and left it in place, any clues as to which way round it should go? cheers

Front edge at the bottom
top of the hood towards you

PS the first few times I stowed mine I had no problem whatsoever. But recently I've started cocking it up (ie doesn't magically drop into place), which is weird.

Thanks for that, and one last question,it does go at the back of the boot? ie the petrol tank cockpit end,not the rear light boot opening end.

yes Exactly how I store mine, which from memory is different to the manual. BTW: always put it in the bag to avoid damage to top of rear wings. biggrin

It's not so wierd when you consider you're doing it the wrong way!!!

With the boot open hold the roof with the front (windscreen) edge UPWARDS and the outside roof material facing the back of the car/you. Place the left hand side into the boot first and push over into the left side of the boot. Then lower the right hand side in without catching the top of the right hand wing with the corner of the roof!!

Nice seeing you and your nice Chim again on Sunday Thorpy - specially as it wasn't raining this time smile Nick.

I guess the way that works best for you is the best way!

(biggrin I'd hazard a guess that I'm the most experienced roof taker offer & putter awayer on the the thread though biggrin)

If the 'previously owned' in your profile is accurate then you wont be hearing an arguement from me on your qualifications to offer an opinion as a roof taker offr and putter awayer! biggrin I'll leave the insults to others!!

As far as the way that works best for me goes, the way I described happens to be the way the handbook recommends and does make sense when you look at the shape of the roof and the boot space!! wink

With that list of 'previously owned', it won't be just this thread though.
I nominate you as our champion when it comes to a showdown with any grifters who are bound to:
a). Be reading this thread, since they are hanging around here more than their own place these days, and
b). Disagree and put themselves forward as the universal experts at this.

Mind you, they are very limited in the luggage/lunchbox department, so if they get their roofs in, where the hell are they going to keep their cigarette paper.

Swapping the spare wheel for a can of Tyre re-inflator stuff makes roof stowing a whole lot easier.

scratchchin I found this so with the Griff, but with the Chimaera to be no problemo.

We only took the space saver out when touring for two weeks to give us more luggage space...roof goes in fine with or without the space saver.

H'mmm. I always put mine in windscreen-edge down, top towards rear, though I'm aware the handbook suggests windscreen edge up. I've always found that way to be more difficult. Maybe I'll give it another go sometime.

Not according to the Nice Man at The TVR Centre in Barnet who showed me how to stow mine; leading edge down, top towards you.
