My controller unit has burnt out and I'm told it's obsolete - any idea for an alternative part or if it's still possible to get this component new ?

I've tried the usual suspects like Peninsula etc.

It's a '97 R reg Chimaera 400.

Find someone who knows a little about electronics and who is good at fixing things. These units often burn out because they overheat at one of the terminals which then transmits heat into the box where heat damage causes the unit to fail. They can be dismantled but be careful to avoid breaking the internals. It's a 'work it out as you do it' task. If it is a case of simple overheating then they can be repaired by bypassing the burned out connector.

Mark,
If you know and electronics engineer of any repute he would be able to fix it dead easy.
There is very little in the unit (about 20 quids worth of bits) and is easily repairable.
Mine failed last year and it was the main plug that had melted and caused a high resistance connection
on the main input connector. I cut out the grotty connector and hard wired with crimp connectors and it has worked perfectly ever since.
I think they are still available via clever trever or racetech direct ect.
Cheers.
Paul.
