Hi All,

Tried to start My 94m 5.ol chmim today and on turn of key primed fuel pump as normal. On trying to start just got a click instead of the usual V8 rumble. Most frustrating on a day like today.

Did not have time to investigate further as had to be at work.

I have a feeling starter motor is possibly jamed?

Any ideas's

If starter motor what car does it come from.

Thanks guys

Battery gets my vote - enough power to prime the pump but not enough to crank the motor. Did the lights on the dash go out/dim as you turned the key?

Regular jump starting is sure way to kill a battery. Get/use trickle charger like AccuMate, Battery Mate conditioners.

The fact that you get the click would suggest to me that the problem is not with the starter motor itself. If it was the starter motor sticking/playing up there wouldn't be the click, but you'd see the headlights dimming (if you put them on for the test) as the motor drew thw 100A or so it needs..

Cheers,
Matt.

If it was down to a flat battery then it would not play about one minute and then crank the next and start. Bad connection either power on starter or earth from engine (check battery terminals too) would do this. Failing that 99% starter fault.

Most likely SSS... Sticking solenoid syndrome. It will gradually get worse until it fails completely. Easiest route is a recon starter and wrap it in a heat shield as it is the heat from the exahsust manifold that causes the problem.

Covered in the bible 2.
