Hello everybody,Took me 3+years to sign up, has anybody out there got any opinions or knowledge if conversion from " www.spautomotive.co.uk" currently advertised on EBAY would fit a chim without blending into the wings? ie. not butchering the wings, so it could be converted back. I rang the owner "Ryan" and he says it is possible they just need trimming. Its just looking at the chim and cerb surrounds, the cerb ones look a lot bigger, especially on the top. Any comments or advice?. Steve.

Chim & Cerb headlight surrounds are completely different. Sp6 & Sp12 conversions all need cutting & shutting to fit Chims AFIK.

Steve

problem with link!!

If you meant Sortmotive then yes I do have a lot of knowledge about Ian's work and would be happy to assist.

However be aware I am very biased as I think he does a great job and he take a great deal of care.

I owned the first T350 conversion chimaera he did and it was a fanastic job see my profile for pics.

Goose

Not Sportmotive but Spautomotive (a bit of a name rip-off me thinks...)

Try this link:

I think the award of the website most likely to put me off using a service goes to these guys. Poor english and grammar and on one page TVR appears as Tvr (right after they got it right as TVR in caps). They have also spelt Chimaera wrong !

Now my english isnt great and Im not usually picky but a website is your shop window and if you cant even be bothered to do a half decent job then I'm hardly likely to trust you with my baby.

Thanks For Your Comments!

Don't know about you but I don't comment on people without meeting them and seeing their work.
Only trying to earn a living!

To put a few things clear:

1. SP Automotive was not a rip off. We decided to keep a neutral name as we deal with other cars besides TVR's although we are TVR enthusiasts. Rather than Chester TVR etc...

2. Im sorry about the Grammar, But I think I'll let my work do the talking.

Thanks

Ryan

Fair enough, a lot of work is by recommendation, but I know that when I am buying a service everyone has a website and (rightly or wrongly) I would look at the website as part of my decision making process.

Sorry Ryan - that comment was mine. SP Automotive I understand, but when I read spautomotive, it sounds and reads like a clever misspelling of sportmotive (who are very well known nad have a great reputation). I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from?

Anyways, please don't take it personally and good luck with the business.

p.s. - Do you have any pics of a Chim fitted with your bolt-on headlight conversion?

Cheers,
Lee.

I do have some experience of the work carried out by 'SP Automotive', so rather than making assumptions and inane comments I am better placed to provide those of you that wish to know about this company some factual information.....

They are a small outfit dedicated to fibreglass bodied cars. Ryan, the owner is a very talented young lad whose primary objective is to deliver real customer satisfaction. When I picked up my TVR, having had it repaired perfectly, one of the lads told me Ryan was up until 3 am that morning cleaning and polishing it over and over to ensure it was the best it had ever been. The guys there go the extra mile.

I would suggest that anyone who does not have fact based knowledge or constructive contribution refrains from commenting.

Its great thanks Angus. I'm just about finished doing all the bits I wanted to do to it. I must admit, yours is always going to be one of the best looking Chims out there though smile
No regrets buying the one I did - it goes like stink and is in great condition. My only regret is selling the wedge - perhaps this is the wrong forum to admit this though? paperbag

Well, the Chim will be for sale very soon and hopefully I'll be back behind the wheel of a wedge in time for the summer.

Hows the sale going? Any interested people or just the usual itiots and tyre-kickers wanting to offer you £1k in cash and there chaved up Nova in PX?

I loved my wedge but like you I will keep that quiet.

Ian keeps telling that Chimaera is getting lots of interest now the sun has come out and should be some son.

Once money is in the bank we can start work on the Griff.

hi all,
well my first time on pistonheads and all that. My car is the t350 on spautomotive's website. i will of course post some frames up on the site when it is complete, it is my first tvr and ryan at spautomotive is repairing it to its natural state for me. i can see how passionate people are over these cars and the time and money spent on them and i am no exception. the car has been completely overhalued in every way and i should be getting the keys from ryan in about 2 weeks. so far the knolwdege and expertise has been quite outstanding and the quality of work is something he should be extemely proud of - I am and can't wait!!!! i'll rib him over the site no end so thanks to all for the pointers but all i can say so far is the following.
there appears to be no catch, just a young guy who is as passionate about cars as we are .... i'll keep you all posted. enjoyed reading the blogs .......
