anybody know where to get an 072 with 680amp CCA battery that will actually fit in the battery box, halfords and my local auto factor only have ones that are too tall and much lower CCA capacity.

Tried a couple of internet sites, but they are too long or tall, the one to have is a Lucas UK old style 072 case, not a european type.

I replaced mine about 3 months ago. I tried Halfords and Costco, but they didn't have the right size. I eventually found one in a motor factor. I think you just need to ring/visit a few other motor factors.

I took the box to my local GSF and after a few tests they found a Bosch silver that fitted with only a slight amount of persuasion.

Not had any probelms since

Varta type 092 reverse, was the best fit I could find with the best CCA. Had them in my TVR & LR for a few years and very happy wink

I recently replaced mine. My local branch of Fast Fit had the right one, I just asked for a TVR Chimaera battery.

It was a 072 660 and went straight in.

It cost £88 but they didn't want to fit it. I had to do that myself.

Halfords do two types of 072, one with a silly low CCA (400 or something like that) the other with a more respectable number. Cant recall what it was but around 500 or maybe 550 I think. I bought one of them and it spins the engine at high speed (well compared to the old one anyway) and hasnt had any trouble holidng a charge. Had to ask the halfwit at halfords to go look in the store room as they didnt have any on display.

Just, within the last 2 weeks, purchased a Bosch s4027 70Ah 630A battery for my 95 Chimp. I have even managed to, just, yes, just as in 5 minutes ago, fit the white foam packing piece down the side of the battery box. HTH

UK B Batteries do one that fits. Think its 650 CCA. Got one the other month from my local parts place.

Cheers Guys

After much debating and hours trawling the inet, bought an Optima Battery RT U 4.2 for £148.00 off the Battery megastore, this has a wopping CCA of 815 amps. It is AGM construction i.e No spill you could even mount it upside down!. Might be overkill, but hey the tax man can afford it biglaugh!!! Will need some padding to put in the box as it's a bit shorter than the standard one., width the same and slightly shorter.
