My right hand wing mirror has wilted! Driving back to London at the weekend, and the whole unit flopped. The door opener still works and the mirror itself still moves around but the unit itself is about as much good as a chocolate teapot! Does anyone know what might have gone wrong and how to fix it - I can't work out how to get to the bolts in the door to see what's gone wrong.

see my previous posts on wing mirrors replacement. In your case it might be a very simple fix as it sounds like the grub screw holding the base of the mirror to the door frame has come loose.

Gilly

I have had just the same problem but repaired it myself.

The die cast frame had fatigued and needed replacing all other parts were OK.

Can help with detailed repair or you may prefer to drop it in to a garage.

Where did you get the replacement die-cast frame? I repaired mine when it broke, and it's lasted pretty well, but for hoe much longer...?

I got mine from a TVR dealer (Christopher Neil in this case) and it was only about £10 - £15.

Sorry 'bout resurrecting this thread again, but rather than open another new one....

My drivers side mirror isn't exactly wilting, but it's certainly looser than the passenger side.

It's loose enough such that when I slam the door shut, it rotates slightly, so that I have a really good view of the side of the car, but not much of the traffic behind me.

Reading through the past threads on this, it seems like this is slightly different from the usual problem (cured by tightening up an internal grub screw), so does anyone have any thoughts on how I can tighten it up?

What? Hang on! You can actually see cars and things from the passenger mirror?
All I get to look at is the (rather sexy) rear 3/4's of the Chimaera. Unless (alledgedly) you do around 115 with the roof down on a bright Saturday afternoon when it gently vibrates outwards, although does tend to go too far.
BTW does anyone know if Hampshire police use a helicopter and is it red? A friend was asking.

I do like to keep an eye out for those friendly disco chaps with the blue strobes and house music (woo-woo-woo-woo)......
