Corrado mirrors

Does anyone know were i can buy the mounts that allow VW Corrado mirrors to fit the chim?

i didnt know they fitted...as i am after a passenger door mirror i might go down this route instead...TVR *suppliers* want £170 for a mirror without the glass...thats another £40...

I cant answer your question bud but i'd like to no the answer lol, i've seen them fitted and they look better in my oppinion.

Im having a nightmare trying to find them, i spoke to racetech today and he said the last ones they had were about 3 years ago and their no longer made

Factory made them up to order IIRC. If I was doing it again I would fill the hole leaving the hole in the middle for the wiring, then drill through the two mounts. It may be a little to low, but a cerb had an extra segment added to the mirror bottom which looked to work well, or you could make a raised bit like the factory items...

I have them retro fitted to my 450, they do look so much better I reckon, the veiw from the passenger side is not the best though.

the chimaeras mirrors are a citroen part and if any one wants some i can get a few if you are quick before a friend scraps the cars which they are on.sadly three were scrapped recently.

three potential solutions here

1. Ebay - My o/s mirror housing broke. I picked up a brand new unpainted mirror including motors and heated glass for £70 on ebay. IIRC I paid my favourite indie £115 to paint it up, fit it and wire it. Being a standard part it hadnt been drilled for the under mirror door release button and the wiring colours were different (hence the need to have it properly fitted!). But it works.

leave it with me and will see what i can get.the citroen mirror doesnt have the rubber bands though,you will need them from your old mirror.

sadly they have all been scrapped.the mirrors were oe on the citroen cx 1970-1990 approx.he gave me this no.for a citroen specialist whom he recons could get you a cheap second hand one 0207 4827050 hope this helps

If you just want mirrors that work, we discussed alternatives a while ago... I suspect Corrado mirrors were used as there were very few mirrors on stalks at the time... but there are plenty of these style mirrors to choose from on other cars, which probably will mount on the door skin?

I tried for 3 years to get the mounts - they only made a limited run of them and unless you can get one / pair off a crasher you will not get any - I was even prepared to make them in resin - but life is too short - I even bought two immaculate Corrado mirrors! TVR Power are supoosed to have all the parts that came out of the factory, and even on giving them the part numbers they could not trace them (mind they did not seem to to know what the heck I was talking about - even though I had the part numbers!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

Forget it (unless you can get some to copy).

Anybody fitted these? Would be good to know what they are like to live with - they look nice.

Thats just the internal tripod mount from a citroen mirror, they are about £10 new from the usual TVR parts places.
