New Hood? Help please.
Discussion
Hi Guys
I need a new rear windscreen for my chim as I've cracked it. I've tried Mark Thomas and he said he didn't want to put a new back screen in because it was too fiddly and wouldn't look right. He said he could fit a whole new rear section and recover the targa for £550 + VAT.
My roof isn't in too bad a condition (although it needs re-waterproofing) so I don't think it's worth replacing it. But who else will replace the window? I've asked Fernhurst and they said £400 and Polyfacto quoted £190+VAT but have a 4 week waiting list.
Any ideas? Thanks.

There is a place in Leicester which replaced just the rear window of the Mrs MGF when I split it one winter by jamming something onto the 'parcel shelf'
I think it cost about £200 but it may have been less. Be careful though, the way they replaced it was to cut the old one out to the edge of the fabric and stitch the new one in. It wasn't that obvious what they'd done unless you really looked at it but once I knew it was there it would have driven me nuts if it had been my P&J.
You could try looking in the Yellow Pages - that's how I found the people in Leicester.

I'm surprised Mark Thomas wouldn't fit a rear screen for you as he was happy to do mine. I have to admit that he did have to remove and reglue the rear section of the hood as it didn't sit right after the rear screen had been stitched in, maybe he is wary of this happening again. Good luck!
