MM, at the end of the month I'll have an old dash you can clean/recover if you want?

MM,

What size are the wingnuts that you need to do this - M?

Wingnuts are M6, I picked up a pack a few weeks back in B&Q for something like £2.50 when I had my dash off

Brilliant...I had the dash top off a few weeks ago but as the nuts had been on for a few years they were tough to get off and getting a spanner in was quite awkward together with my big fat mits.

I was wondering about putting wing nuts back on and now that someone has stated the size I think I'll do that.

Thanks Bigdods thumbup

PH eh...sometimes it makes life just a little easier...

You could do this. Takes all of ten minutes to do once the wood has been stripped off. I was looking for carbon but the sample didn't look right with the interior colours on mine. Then I saw that they did an aluminised fibre (NOT VINYL!). I got a sample & it looks just like an ally dash. Cost £30 odd & if I get fed up I can always change it.

StewartsF1.com or .co.uk. If you look on the site they do a whole range of carbon & kevlar in different weaves. He was happy to send out samples which was lucky in my case as what I was going to do would not have looked right.

Why would you use a 10mm thread and only do it finger tight yikes

It comes in sheet form with a separate sheet of 3m adhesive. I cut it with a stanley knife & used a scalpel for the fiddly bits like the led holes.

MM, I have just done this with mine - hence the spare one coming up when it's replaced. It's looking good with the Leven stuff added...
