Hi all.
Diane and I are now the proud owner of a very nice Imperial blue Chimaera, Having lived with the modern gadgets on a T350c for over 4 years, we had forgotten about a few of the Chimaera's little annoying things, The main one so far being that Damn boot opening button under the dash, We used to 'f' and blind about that with our first Chim way back.
But it seems that there is a remote boot unlocking gadget that goes on ones key fob that Miraculously stops one swearing so much. So if anyone knows where i can get one, and get it fitted pretty soon in Essex, we would be very grateful.
Thanks in advance...........Davebow

Don't know if this works on all cars but if the car is unlocked and I hold the Driver side wing mirror button the door opens first but if I keep it pressed for about 3 seconds it will also open the boot.

I am intruiged by the "holding the door button open...........must give that one a try!

Carl Baker www.tvruk.tv near Petersfield does a remote boot release activated from a fob it's on my wish list. I believe Mod-wise do a kit too using a magnet system

Off topic, but welcome back. Over the years I have read of many folk who have (perhaps) moved up the TVR ladder, as such, and then come back to Chimaera World.

I've been tempted myself as I'd love to own a Tuscan, T350 or a Sagaris but, looking long-term, I'm perfectly happy with my mid 90s, RV8 Chimaera. It ticks all the boxes (financial, parts, DIY, reliability, appearance, torque etc. etc) and summertime is but a month away..

Hope you both enjoy it.

Carl fitted mine while my car was in for servicing at Fernhurst last week; replacement key with the alarm activator fitted and a separate fob for releasing the boot. Cost a couple hundred pounds and is literally TVR life-changing!!

Carl recently fitted mine. Worth every penny.
Also some good roads around where he lives so you could have a good day out as well.

Been planning a trip down there myself due to key fob problems and siren not working, but thinking I may get the boot done as well.

When you start adding up the needs and wants of it all, it starts to get expensive and now wondering whether it is worth getting a more modern alarm system that does it all.

Any suggestions?

IIRC it was a dealer mod (Henley Heritage / Racing Green?) according to a thread on here in the dim/distant past.

Don't hold your button down too long though as you'll burn your solenoid out! (as I know from experience.)

Mine's a 'T' reg, like Chris Pitman's and it came from Henley Heritage but unfortunately this feature's not installed. Shame, as it would be quite useful.

Just have a day out to Carl's near Petersfield.

The remote is great, the roads are excellent, he does a good coffee (served in the conservatory) and you get to look after his dog while he's doing the car.

Do you have more info on the parts required as this sounds like a good mod to do
Cheers
