Got an interesting one had the rocker covers off due to a slight oil leek on pass side at back, the screws were quite loose on removing the cover there were some signs of mayo around the rockers mostly near the rear of the engine, I change to rubber gaskets last time they were off, on removing the rubber I noticed water held in the U proofile of the gasket when they came off.

Took the driver side off as well this was simular, little bit of mayo but again mostly to the rear. Again rubber gasket wet, the car was left out side over christmas for about 5-6 weeks if the screws were a little loose would there have been a vacume in the rockers to pull the water in as it could not drain away.

The reason I ask is the engine has been rebuilt ie new cam and heads.

Also the coolant is bright pink antifreeze would there not be a pinky colour to the mayo if it were a gasket failure and not come through the gasket.

Checked the dip stick and that looks fine.

How easy is it to replace the Gaskets as I also have a slight leak on the driver’s side? (I say slight but when I start her for the first time the smoke is kind of embarrassing)

And per the comments above what are the pros and cons of rubber and cork? (As gaskets nothing else you dirty lot) whistle

I always use cork, with a thin bead of sealant, don't over tighten them though . .
