I am looking to replace the shocks and springs on my Chim. However, as the car is for road use only (no track days etc)I don't see the point in having adjustable shocks (not least because I have no idea how to set them up!).

Does anyone have any idea where I can obtain a direct replacement for the existing shocks and springs (which I assume are the standard factory fit).

Thanks.

Whereabouts in Northants are you ? I would recommend a call to Warren at Topcats racing (a few miles from Bicester). He can supply, fit and do a full Geo setup for all the major brands and will be able to advise you on the best ones for your needs.

If you like the idea of non-adjustable then TVR Power do a non-adjust bilstein which sounds like it suits your requirements.

A cheaper option, if your car isn't your only car and you don't mind a couple of week wait, is to get your old Bilsteins rebuilt. I had mine done and she drives like a dream. Email me for the address if wanted. biggrin:

Had mine rebuilt by the Bilstein factory as well, very reasonable cost compared to new replacements. You might be very surprised and pleased just how well a Chim drives on 'new' standard suspension smile

Thanks for the replies. I hadn't considered having the old shoccks rebuilt. Would I still need to replace the springs? I am sure that I read somewhere that these don't actually wear out.

Just a thought on this one - just because they are adjustable doesn't mean they cost any more money necessarily. You can always adjust them initially to find your optimum setting on road then leave them fixed. Its not compulsory to adjust them once fitted. There is a wider choice of replacements this way.
