T5 gearbox bell housing cap

T5 gearbox bell housing cap - should/did all grifs / chims have one fitted, some seem to say yes a sit keeps the clutch etc clean from road debris, some say no as it prevents any oil from escaping from the bell housing and may damage the clutch.Any ideas??

Mines got one no trouble since i bought it i just smeared a bit of grease round to make an extra seal on the outside of course

There shouldn't be any oil in the bellhousing.

Mine was missing, looked at getting one of e-bay tonight, placed a sneaky bid at the last minute, bugger me some bloke by the name of Pasco V8 snuck in at the death and nicked it before my very eyes!!

Mine didn't have one so I bought one and put it in. As said before, shouldn't have any oil in the bell housing.

where do you get them from mines never had one but always thought it would be better to have one fitted
