Need four new tyres and to renew insurance.

Tyres - Currently Bridgestone and always been happy with them - anybody got any other opinion as I know some people have switched to alternatives.

Isurance - currently with Classicline on a classic car policy but others seem to have got their insurance much cheaper elsewhere, again any opinions/recommendations for a qoute ?

Tyres - I've just fitted Dunlop SP9000s to the front and they feel fantastic, certainly giving better steering feel than the Eagle F1s I had replaced. Plus they're about the only performance tyre left on the market with a Z speed rating for the standard front wheels.
On the rear I run Falken FK452s, very popular amongst TVRs at the moment and given the cost an absolute bargain to boot!!

Insurance wise I'm with A-Plan for the 2nd year running but the Chim is my only car.
You has classic insurance so I'm presuming you have use of another car and want limited mileage? If so then loads of TVR owners are raving about Hagerty. Your Chim must be a 2nd car and mileage less than 5k a year but I've seen some ridiculously cheap quotes from them.

Hiya,

I have recently replaced all the tyres on my '93 Chimp with Toyo Proxes T1-R. Very nice indeed, though speaking to the chap at the tyre place, he did advise that these are a softish compound. Great for grip, but wear a little quicker than normal tyres.

As for insurance, I went with Hagerty's who quoted a very good price (nice chaps too!!!!)

I agree with Tappo...

Toyo Proxes TR-1s... Glorious tyres in the wet and excellent in the dry too (IMHO)...

They are a softer compound than some alternatives, but I've had them on the MG for ages and they are seeming to last longer than the Goodies I had on her previously... smile

Just had SP9000 fitted all round too - too early to say but at £302 for 4 fitted from Tyre Traders, I'm already happy smile
