I have a 99 chim with a boot catch failure.

I've looked it up in the 'bible' which tells you of an
emergency release. but I'm assuming this must be for ealier models as it's not there.

Tried looking in the PH archives but no answers there that I can find.

Can anyone tell me if there is an emergency release on the later models or any other methods to gain entry.

My shoppings in there and I'm hungry!

Thanks.

I would suggest that you get a take away in until tomorrow.
Give your garage a ring and they will advise.
Suspicious! well what a question to ask on your first day!
Sorry to disappoint, but it could be your car that somebody else is trying to gain entry to.

Welcome anyway, and hope you get it sorted soon.

Welcome Daniel. My 99 has a boot catch that likes at least 4 rapid presses of the button to open it. I think it needs a good dose of WD40 but I'm not really sure where to jet it. One day it will let me down and not open - but not with the shopping in it!

I went along the WD40 route for a while spraying the solenoid, realised that it wasn't going to get better, and relpaced the solenoid, cost about £25 incl p&p and fitted it in about 30 minutes. Now just the lightest touch depressing the button opens the boot with a loud and positive click. Hut sounds like your boot solenoid is on its last legs, change it, its a great feeling driving into a petrol station and knowing that the boot will open.

Look on the bright side, there are five motors (2 masters, 3 slaves) on the car, think of how much less you will spend in the future
