I would have a Chimaera tomorrow, but I am a bit worried what the misses might say if it starts costing money and may only be used for a few thousand miles a year. The other problem is that we need a car each for work and do fairly high mileage so a Chim would be 3.

I know Chim owners are married to their cars, but how do your wives/girlfriend's like ownership. Mine loves quick cars and has admitted to liking the style of the Chimaera (how could you not) which is half the battle.

I never thought my wofe would let me have one. But low and behold she loves it except the getting in and out part (says it hurts her legs ?)

"Our" Chimaera actually belongs to the Mrs! biggrin And she prefers ME to drive!

I'd marry her if I hadn't already done it. yesbiggrin

The whole point of a Chim is to enjoy sunny summer days with the roof down and the V8 burbling. What you have to do is come up with places to take the Mrs in it so she will enjoy the car as much as you.

The perfect spot is a National Trust property. You have to drive there (good). The car park is safe (always has been for me). It's genteel and civilised and the Mrs will likely enjoy it. She'll certainly enjoy the cream tea! Join up and you have an excuse to hoon over to a property every weekend all summer.

It is no coincidence that you will see a disporportionate number of sports cars like Porsches, Ferraris and TVRs in NT car parks.

My Mrs wasnt too happy....wouldnt speak to me for a week.
Fine by me as I had the car I had always wanted and a week off from the usual ear bashing. She still hates it and thinks it should have been a conservatory!

My Mrs is quite petite (5'1) and her legs are too short to quite reach the pedals properly. She also can't really see over the wheel very well. She therefore doesn't like to drive the Chimp.

Just a point to note when considering a purchase - wife or car LOL!

My girlfriend forbade me to have one. So, when I turned up on a Friday night in my shiny red one year old beauty she was not amused........until she drove it.

Easy peasy, just let the other half drive one, problem over biggrin

I don't mind turning up at a garage for a test drive, but my other half feels a bit cheeky (especially when the owner finds out we only bought a new car the month before). Does anyone know of any places, in the North West preferably, that hire Chimaeras for the day. driving

My wife was quite happy for me to get it. We do the same as above and visit NT etc in it, otherwise I go out for a drive when she is at work.

Guess I am lucky that providing we are spending time together she is happy to do whatever I want!

Initially had a few comments about spending too much time in the garage, I just said I was seeing a nice lass from Blackpool.

Look, you know that your heart is set on it so just go and buy one. If it's a real marriage breaker you can always get rid of it (the car that is). I went through the same humming and harring about buying mine, oops I mean ours, and when she found out the only query was "what colour?" so I knew that I was home and dry. She's been quite toerant really, You never know your wife might take the same view. I had to get the pedal extensions so that she could drive it, but even so she'll rather dive her civilised and quiet RX8 and leave me to play with the beast. When you've got it it will not be jealous if it sees you with another one, even if its younger. You can caress the body whenever the mood takes you and you'll even get to service it!!

If you can afford one and you want one go bloody buy one! I can't stand these women who stop their other halves from doing/buying the things they enjoy! If THEY wanted some shoes or something they'd sure as hell buy them whether the other half approved or not! It's ridiculous!

p.s. I'm a woman, I own a Chimaera and it makes me happy which means my boyfreind's happy! smile

Have you taken her for a test drive in one?
When I was looking to buy one, I knew that I'd buy it regardless and risk the wrath, but once she'd been out for a spin, she was positively encouraging me! Go on, you'll never regret it, but if you don't, you'll always be wondering what might have been...

Exactly the same as me, all she worried about was that it had to be a convertible (her definition of a sports car) and a nice colour, she didn't seem fazed by the purchase price but all the liitle extras that arrive do get a "how much did that cost" look - so, top tip, get any bits delivered to work not home address! wink
