I had a problem with my existing speakers in the vent holes fouling on the roll bar I just fitted, these speakers had a spacer ring with holes drilled in it to allow some airflow but I've had to replace them with smaller speakers so now there's no venting. How important is the venting?

If I wanted to add a vent, anyone know what the original vents looked like or ideas on some sort of vent grill?

I doubt the speakers are moving enough air to worry porting/venting.

Having holes in the spacer that close to the speaker didnt sound right anyway.

holes were not for the speakers, but to allow air flow thru car in bad weather with windows up, the air flow helped improve demisting abilities

I have vent holes in the bottom of the speaker rings - you can't easily see them but you can feel them.

My car had rear speakers fitted, using the vent holes - there had been a new hole created in the middle, between the two speakers. Seems to work OK like that.

Its a bit of an old chestnut... but IMHO there is quite adequate suction from the boot over the rear wings. More importantly I would check if the vents in the boot (behind the diff) have not been blocked up wink

Thanks for the replies, I though it had to do with pressure in the cabin when closing the doors, if it's just for ventilation for humidity etc, I'm not too worried.
