How light do you reckon we could get a Chimaera? The plans for the racer, given the regs for the Tuscan Challenge are based on power to weight, are to chop off the front and have a one piece flip front, akin to the Tasmin racers. I reckon I could grind and chop weight out of the shell by removing the posts over the shoulder where the road seat belts attach and the big lump of metal that's involved with them. Lightweight wishbones and uprights...anything else
I've cornerweighted with me sat on-board at around 1075kg in fairly standard race trim. What do you reckon, 1000kg? 900kg? 850??????
Regards
Iain

1075 seems a bit heavy.
What spec is the car in? Any interior, full cage I presume, extinguisher etc.
I'd have thought by stripping the interior out, fitting a SPA dash, lightweight buckets and fixing the windows in place - (to lose the motors and mech) replacing side glass with plexi.
This should get you down to below the ton
Are you looking to still drive it on the road, doe it have to pass an MOT?
If no then obviously light clusters can come out as can the heater box and fan, just duct a bit of fresh air to the screen vents to prevent misting up. Boot hinges can go - replace with dzus - headlamps? If no night events.
Most of the panels are pretty thin already. If its using the rover box swap to a T5 they're about 15Kg lighter.
after that its getting pretty expensive; carbon prop, carbon panels , ally flywheel - machining lumps off the engine ( or fit an AJP perhaps)
I'd have said without going nuts you should be able to get a road going racer down to 970KG and a no-road going to 925Kg mabye 900Kg
