Over reving

When starting from cold car over revs for approx 5 to 10 seconds then settles down to a steady tick over. Would not be to bothered but for the first 5 seconds I can hear the tappets tapping until oil gets there. Its only for as I say 5 to 10 seconds. Cleaned the stepper but still obvious on start up.

Only started doing this approx 3 weeks ago since I had a new timing cover gasket replaced due to losing water. Could something have been disturbed ?


Any advise would be appreciated.
