Hi everyone Finally got one after a few months of looking and waiting. It's gorgeous, sounds better than it looks and causes unbelievable reactions, mostly positive, some to
er did shout snob or it could have been knob, I'm not sure, but then I don't really care. Honestly I'm neither. The car is in great condition apart from the dreaded stonechips, I've managed to add another in my first week of driving. Can you buy touch-up paint from a local paint shop or does it have to be a TVR dealer?
Also, the electric windows seem to be struggling - Anything I can do to ease the problem?
Great forum, I've learned a lot reading it over the last few months - look forward to meeting a few TVR owners and learning a bit more,
Steve

Its quite difficult to get an exact match for TVR paints from Halfords et al. WHat colour is your Chim?
Windows slow? They all do that sir. You can try lubing them a bit, and there are various threads on here about it, but I have kind of got used to it on mine.
Welcome to the world of TVR ownership. You'll ove almost every minute.
Get used to the stonechips I'm afraid... I had a pristine car when I bought it (just been f/e/r'd) and now it has a couple of dozen.. I'm reckoning on getting the front re-done every two-three years depending on how bad it gets.. Its all down to the relative brittle-ness of the fiberglass compared to metal.
Happy motoring
Matt.

A lot depends on your driving style.. Johno had the front of his Griff 500 pretty well peppered within a few months.. this was partly due to him sitting on people's arses when they wouldn't get out of the way
I tend to hang back quite a bit from the cars in front (more than I do with the Saxo) and it seems to get less of them.
Cheers
Matt

Allan,
According to handbook colour is blue pearl (TVR Code P198) I'm not sure if thats a shade of blue or a pearleascent finish
Loving every minute so far - Thanks for the welcome

Ray,
I'm in Scunthorpe. TVR's definately a rare breed round here, certainly not many for sale when I was looking.
Unfortunately can't make Saturday but hoping to go to BNG at end of the month.
Nice to hear from you,
Steve

Matt,
Thanks for the reply. I appreciate prices must differ around the country but what would you say is a fair price for a front end respray
Steve
You classically get what you pay for with Paintjobs... I'd reckon that a good job would be in the region of £600-800, anything around the £300-£400 mark I would be a bit suspect of.. also remember that you'll probably need the wing mirrors doing at the same time.
Cheers,
Matt.
Steve,
My Chimaera is Maritius Blue Pearl (Not sure whether I've spelt Maritius right - its the Island in the Indian Ocean anyway). Not sure if this is the same colour as your's, it certainly looks it in the pictures.
I got some touch from my dealer for £7, then a week later while in Halfords notice Maritius Blus Pearl as a Citreon colour. Didn't get around to checking if it was the same, I imagine it is, but it was a lot cheaper. Might be worth checking.a

You'll get mixed reports from the people who've tried Chips Away - but basically it depends on which representative you used, as they're franchised.
For my stone chips, I used a guy from Chips Away who services the North London area. The finish on my moonraker black car was seamless - even from close up. So good in fact, that I paid the same guy to do my mums and dads cars too. Good on the wallet, as well. I had a scuff on my offside front wing, chips on the front, and a gouge in the boot where I'd somehow managed to run my watch strap down it while shutting it. The whole job left me with change out of £150.

Rob,
I've been in touch with initial supplier (HHC), they quoted me £7 but they seem to be having trouble identifying colour from my handbook details. They have took my vin no. and are contacting factory, they thought it might be imperial?
Thanks - Steve
