Nurburgring 2008 - noise test?
Discussion
Off to the Ring again in a few weeks and have heard stories about db noise level testing. Has anyone been this year? If so What exhaust sytem did you have? I am currently on standard but am thinking of the Cherrybomb kit. I have been told that the ring noise level max is 95db and 3/4 revs, with reading taken 1 meter away at 45 degrees, will the cherrybomb pass this, or would the standard even pass it!????
I have been with the Tuscan knocking out 103db at 2500 revs (thats when its the quietest)
and was allowed to carry on. Just took my time on the last straight. As for a chim with cherry bombs, they are no where near as loud as the cans so you should be fine. Just dont go thrashing it in the parking lot.
If you do get stopped, when they ask you to rev to 3500 rev, which is what they asked me to do, just rev to the point the exhaust quietens, should be around 2700 on the chim. They love the TVR's over there so they will tend to turn a deaf ear. Ya can get bored looking at 911's in every concievable colour and variation, so expect attention and enjoy.
If you get chance, take a drive to the castle Burg Elz via Muden(Mosel) and you will experience a fantastic hillside road with numerous hairpins. Best fun I had while we were there. The castle does great beer and food. All good.
