Audio Connectors on an S reg Chim
Discussion
I've just replaced a JVC CD player with a Pioneer one and most things are fine. It turns on and off, plays CDs and received radio signals.
Looking at the bible #2 (page 281) Pioneer equipment seems to be original fit.
Does anyone know if ISO audio connectors were also original fit?
I ask because my Chim has two ISO connectors to which the JVC was connected but the pin that should be an ignition switched +12 is an unswitched +12V. That is, rather than being live when the key is in position 2, it's live all the time.
I'm wondering if the ISO connector was connected when the JVC unit was put in rather than being a factory fit. Perhaps the ISO connector was incorrectly wired then. Perhaps it was incorrectly wired in the factory!
Any views/thoughts?

The Chim Ignition switch does not supply power in the Aux position and the radio can only be on when the ignition is on.
Sounds like someone may have fed the radio with a constant supply to get round this problem.
Last year I did a mod to the ignition switch to allow the aux position to supply power.
I did a write up to it on the Chimaera pages http://www.chimaerapages.com/resources_ignitionaux.php
Hope this helps

Just saying hello to another Chim owning MillAr
Later Chimaeras, as you've found, have ISO connectors. But for some reason different manufacturers swap around the permanent and switched +12V supplies. On the radio wiring these are usually red and yellow and they often come with bullet connectors so you can switch them around. Is your JVC like that?
It will still work as it is but you'll probably find that it loses its memory every time it's switched off.

I'm not sure if the ISO connectors on my Chim are original fit or were added when the JVC unit was put in.
There is indeed some variation in the use of pins A4 and A7.

On my Chim both are wired to the battery and are on all the time. Both the old JVC and new Pioneer head units are fine with this. As far as they're concerned there's always power to the ignition/AUX pin.
