Has anyone had this message on their ECU before? Just got it, havent pulled the cable out to search for the tune resistor yet, is it far up the cable? What colour should it be? I have a 4.0 standard exhaust.

Its under the passenger dash on its own pluggable socket. You can see the resistor in a clear sleeve, and it should have a coloured wire as part of it. White for non cat cars, Green for cat cars. Ive heard some wiring looms did not have this socket fitted, and the resistor is either missing (Defaults to cat map) or bound up in the loom.

Thanks for that , so as yours is white does that mean you have CAT or NON CATs?

I accidentally demolished the blue female socket that takes the tune resistor, can anyone tell me what colour wire joins to what? I have a white and a white/black strip cable on the tune resistor and a black, black/grey on the loom side (I am working from memory here so may be a bit off smile )

Does not matter as the resistor is not polarised.

Just fitted a new white tune resistor, and still getting tune resistor fault from fault detector. Could it be an ECU problem? Do landrover units all accept the tune resistor?

You may have a break in the wiring from the ecu the tune resistor. Need to check with an ohm meter at the ECU connector.

Have you done an ECU reset, as the fault wont clear from memory until you do? Values are the same across the ECU's that had them fitted. (not all versions used them however)

Bet this is a silly question , but how do you reset? Is it simply.. unplug and wait a bit?

Unplug the connector for 10s, or the battery disconnect if you have one..

I would hope you have already disconnected the battery if you are working on the O/S manifold biggrin

I am a custardy cat though hehe

I thought that was just a random issue with my car, I presume your talking about hte live wires to the starter? Found out, almost to my peril, when removing the plugs. Looked round to see a facefull of sparks from the end of the bar! Why are they live with ignition off!

Because thats the way just about all cars work..... Did you think that there was some kind of magic electrickery in the battery itself? hehe
