Car has done 62k. Thinking I should change the rocker arms and shaft. Have had varying quotes on this and also some confusing information. My understanding is that TVR O/E were alloy - both the shaft and the arms. Some suppliers have told me that the arms were steel. Been quote some wildly different figures too. Anybody clarify what I should be shopping for and and suggested suppliers?

Thanks

Have a look here.

You need to scoll down a bit.

would you recommend alloy arms and a steel shaft then? rather than an all steel replacement kit?

one other thing - any view on adjustable push rods? any disadvantage? I've heard polar opposite opinions here - some say these are stronger than originals, others say they flex more.....

I don't know enough about the subject to offer an opinion as to which is better.
To my mind I guess it depends how much you want to spend & if you are going to tune the engine.
The std set up seems to last for ages & takes loads of abuse without problems but you pays yer money..etc, etc

If they need replacement then go for the cast iron rocker arms rather than the alloy ones far more hardwearing and reliable, you would only benefit from the alloy ones(lower weight)if you had a screaming RV8 that revved to 8500rpm pluseekif they are not worn them leave them, dont forget to pull the rockers against the springs on the shafts to inspect the shafts for wearwink

There were a lot of problems with a 'batch' of alloy arms where the steel pads kept falling off. Dom stated a while ago that these problems should be past, and he was confident to install the alloy arms wink

They may well be, but roller rockers are a bit of an overkill for the problem described. If you have to ask what they are it is more than likely that you don't really need them (and if you can buy them on a whim I am green with envy hehe ).

Not as overkill as the priceeekand not necessary unless you are really breathing on the RV8thumbupsevere cam lift etc.
