At the weekend (Sat), I went to unlock the car using the key fob as usual and she wouldn't unlock, the indicators flashed and a noise came from the locking mechanism, I would describe the noise as a weaker or faint version of the usual unlocking noise. Then after a while of constant trying the key fob, it unlocked and I didn't have the problem for the rest of the day. Then the car was fine on sunday and monday (Its my everyday car) but today again twice it wouldn't unlock and was making the same faint sound, but this time it wouldn't open at all, so I had to break in and open the car from the inside. The key fob is still making the indicators flash when I press the button and is still dis-arming the immobilisher.

Any Ideas of what the problem maybe, could it simply be a worn battery in the key fob?

Gary, if the indicators flash, it tries to unlock and the alarm/immobiliser is being dis-armed it's not going to be the battery in the alarm fob. Does the button on top of the door-opener unlock/lock the doors OK? It sounds more like either the mechanism or alarm interface that controls the locking/unlocking is at fault. Anybody else got any suggestions? HTH

The button on top of the door open knob works fine. It was fine today, I think a possible fix is to add a good aftermarket alarm that uses the remote central locking. And get the electronics specialist to have a look at it while he is fitting the new alarm

Gary, there's a chap on here called Carl, whom everybody mentions whenever the words 'problem with my alarm' are spoken. I'm sure it will be worth speaking to him before spending you hard earned money. HTH

These guys are worth trying too, they rebuilt my Foxguard unit from my '96 Chimaera; www.bridgwater-electronics.co.uk

Gary, it might be worth keeping your eye on this thread. The symptoms are very similar to yours. HTH

Gary, sounds like you have a similar/same as problem as me

Mine was the central locking relay under the dash, shouldn't be expensive, I got a 2nd hand one for £5 (they didn't have a new one)

If you have a TVR Bible it shows you which relay to check, it looks different from the others & has a screw tab attached to it
You'll have to take the top of the dash off, unless you re lucky like I was & find the relay floating around under the glove compartment panel
