My Alarm Key-fob won't open the doors!

I have got in the car via secret method, pulled back the carpet behind the doors to access the Door release solenoids,
when I press the Key-fob the solenoids both sides judder & make a noise & are obviously trying to operate

I have manually opened both the doors censored, then pressing the Key-fob again to lock them, strangely locking the car works fine but it still won't unlock...
Even more strangely when I put my hand on the metal solenoid wires & press the Keyfob to unlock the doors
The solenoids seem to be trying to push down to open the doors when their supposed to retract (go up)

I assume that if a Solenoid is faulty the one on the other side would still operate, anyone know if this is right?
I thought the problem could be the Door Release Relay under the dash but have spoken to Carl Baker & he thinks it unlikely
The Alarm is quite new & is working properly & I am hoping its got nothing to do with the central locking module (very expensive)

ETA sorry for the edit, but a little too much info given there. smile

Its a Meta Mk2, fitted by Carl Baker about 6 months ago
I'm pretty sure Alarm is ok though, the solenoids try & operate when you press the fob (You can hear then & see them move), but dont open the lock release

Yesterday they would lock but not unlock, today they won't do either

Its almost as if their not getting quite enough current/voltage to operate
Should have some time today to check a few things out....

A knackered relay caused the same symptoms on my car.

Would lock OK but not unlock...

Yep, fixed

My 1st thought was the central locking relay under the dash but didn't want to take dash top off without eliminating Solenoids, etc

Luckily the relay was floating around under the glove panel thingy so I didn't have to take the top of the dash off to get it, result!

Took the relay cover off & discovered a capacitor had gone into melt down

Popped up to TVR Barnet, they didn't have a new relay but took £5 for a 2nd hand one

This might sound like a silly question, and I suspect the answer is 'no', but, under these circumstances would/could the doors be locked by using the button on the door-opener-knob. The only reason I ask is that this thread was raised the other day, and the symptoms sound very much the same. I was just wondering if the same advice might apply to Gary, who raised it?

The doors would lock from the green led button on top of the door opening knob thingy, but no unlock (Same as fob)
Hope this helps...

Forgot to say that the doors will still open from inside the car on the turn knob thing, just not from the green led button on top
The turn knob door opening mechanism works regardless of the position of the locking solenoids, hope that makes sense

The only difference between the two faults is that Gary could lock and unlock his doors using his button on top of the door-knob-opener:-

Hmmm, thats odd
I would have thought the green button operates the same part of the relay as the key-fob to lock & unlock
But then again it is a TVR
