Hi Fella's,

Air con's packed up, when switched on the compressor dosen't fire up.I looked in the manual but couldn't find a fuse or relay listed for it. Checked the two wires connected to the compressor and found no power, but i think i read somewhere that there is a pressure sensor that may stop the compressor from running if theres no gas. Any ideas on a process of elimination to get to bottom of the problem would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Dave

Only way really is take it to a specialist a/c place. Could be a failed fuse, hp switch or more likely no gas. Worst scenario is leaky condenser £££'s.

Thanks Dodger,

Had a good look over the weekend, the pipe from the inner wing to the compressor has cracked on the body of the compressor. Looks like a new compressor or connector on the compressor if i can get it.

Do you mean the actual pipe has failed? They are separate to the compressor which usually has a manifold inlet/outlet block on the face where the pipes are fitted - sometimes with flange fittings with a cantlever screw fixing or like a in-line threaded fitting. Replacing the hose asy will be difficult only in access and routing and will be a LOT less £££ than a new compressor. Good luck.

If it's just a matter of changing a manifold adaptor, you or I could probably manage that. Cleanliness is the name of the game here, and there's probably an O-ring or two about. Then all you need to do is get it gassed up. Anywhere with an a/c charge rig. There should be a plate somewhere which tells you the charge weight in grammes/pounds - or ask factory/dealer?
