Hi All, found something wierd on my Chimaera and i'm trying to figure out if its just my car or all of them.

On my Saxo (H4 Bulb) it works like this-

Headlights on Dipped Beam if you flash your lights Main AND dipped beam come on
Headlights on dipped beam, if you lock your lights to main beam, ONLY main beam is on.

Now, on my Chimaera (As i'm metering up the plug to install a relay for my driving lights) i've found that-

Headlights on dipped beam, if you flash your lights your lights changeover to ONLY main beam
Headlights on dipped beam, if you lock your lights to main beam, ONLY main beam is on.
Headlights off, if you flash your lights ONLY main beam comes on.

This is on a 1997 450.

Does your car do the same?

Thanks

Matt

No idea..took me 2 weeks to work out that I need to put the parking lights on before I can turn dipped beam on.... pressing dipped beam on its own (without parking lights on) does begger all...

Anyone else's like this?

Think I flash I get main beam from whatever situation..

Mid 1999 car.

'Flash' operates main beam regardless of whether headlights are switched on or not. So, if headlamps are lit, main beam operates as well. But if I switch to main beam (obviously with headlamps on), dipped beam goes out.

Like your Saxo.

But it may have been modified. I believe 'spend' has rewired his so that when main beam is selected dipped beam remains on. Quite worthwhile with standard headlamps, I reckon. Main beam alone doesn't light up the near ground too well.

My 99' Chim 450 does the same as Cider Andy's in that flashing main beam leaves the dipped beam on (if it's on already), but pushing to lock main beam turns off the dipped beam (this also turns off the rear fog light).
