My chim 400 is starting to show early signs of cam wear. Ive spoken to the guys at V8 developments and they recommend a stealth cam (or fast road cam), has anyone got one of these cams?
Does it hinder slow speed drivability?
Were there noticeable performance increases? (if so, do you have any figures?)
Would you recommend the cam upgrade and would you recommend V8 developments?

Thanks
Gary

hi, i had a mc1 cam fitted at v8 developments, car runs a treat, i allso fitted a new k&n airfilter, smooth bore act induction kit and carbon trumpets .the car goes like the wind from take of , i cant see why you need the high lift cam as you only gain power at very high revs . daz

I've got a Stealth and it is a stonkingly good cam. Think Quinny was the original customer for this design to give more mid range grunt. The low range driveability is very good. But i had my engine remapped by Mr. Adams which may have helped a lot with that... V8D top place. Great guys.

At the risk of sounding a bit thick, what are the early signs of cam wear?

I had the MC1 cam from V8D fitted by Neil Garner. MC1 was a good compramise between standard & stealth so went for it. Pleased with it...very eager as you increase through the revs...particularly from 3k onwards!

I had an MC1, now run a stealth, although with larger injectors, Emerald etc . .

The stealth cam is awesome, my car is putting out 280 lbsft at 2000rpm and it just climbs from there through to 4500rpm.

It is not as wild as a 404 and gives fantastic mid range and driveability without the overlap issues of wilder cams (which can be mapped out these days)so it idles nicely and it fine for driving around in town if required. In addition with the torque it pulls in any gear wink

Much prefer it to the MC1, although I have not driven a well mapped 404H or 404M.

I think Rob has designed an awesome cam, that certainly delivers exactly what I was after. I've had mine in for over 10k miles and nearly 2yrs now and love it.

That's how mine sounds when I first start it on cold mornings, like it's a tad cross - always makes me think of my Dad - he used to sound just as pissed-off and sore-headed when he woke up!
