On adding some oil today a strange thing happened. instead of unscrewing the cap. i somehow managed to unscrew the housing (thick metal tube on engin cover ) that the cap screws intosmash . I seperated the 2 then screwed the body back on the engin, then the cap back into that.
should this part of the engin be tightend under torque or will somthing like lock-tight do the trick? there is no gasket, just thred and metal to metal. thanks for any help. ( could be nasty if this comes off during driving! ).irked

Couple of drips of blue Loctite then tight as you can with your hand and a rag will do just fine, degrease the threads 1st though.

I had some oil seepage with mine so I've screwed the cap in to the cover direct untill I get a couple of spare 'O' rings.

mine doesn't have that tube, my oil cap screws straight into the head cover
