I have a question about an exhaust mod that i have just had done on my Chimaera at a local garage. I wanted to have it sleeved but was told all that they had done was took the wadding out of the back box but did not weld any pipes in its place. The noise is not any great deal louder. Has anybody had something similar done or have any advice for me on this type of mod.
Many thanks.

AFAIK, the standard is to open the box, remove the perforated pipes, weld in "normal" pipe, and then pack the wadding back in to prevent resonance.

Exactly that. All that removing the wadding will do is make it sound tinny and most likely resonate on the motorway.
