Right, here we go again! I want to change the dash but, although I can find and undo the two nuts holding the passenger side of the dash top on, I cannot see where its bolted on the drivers side.
The bible says to take out the vent on the drivers side. I have done this but the only stud/net I can see looks to be holding the lower section of the dash to the body. It loks way too low to have anything to do with the upper bit.
Can anyone give an idiots guide to finding the one I need please.

Hi there

I'm sure MM2 has already told you, but you need to get your head in the footwell preferably with a torch to see what it's all about. I took the driver's seat out when I did mine. made it marginally easier.
What made it really difficult though was that the "third bolt" was spinning and I couldn't get the nut orf.
Hopefully you do not encounter this. If so let me know.

This article on The Chimaera Pages is very useful and has a good photo showing the position of the bolts.

Sit on the floor next to your car in between the sill and the door (with it open fully) with your legs stretched out perpendicular to the car. Reach with your left arm past the vinyl next to the steering column and then back towards your left ear and you will feel it pretty easily with plenty of space to get a spanner in, get the nut and washer on/off etc. No need to take the vent out, but good tips are to cut down the bolts a bit so the top goes back on a bit easier, and also cut a bit of vinyl off from around where the drivers side bolt goes in or else it catches and makes things more difficult than they need to be!
