Fuel rail replacement - methods?
Discussion
About to replace my fuel rail after partial dismantling to fix wiring loom short.
Whats the general consensus for best method? Is it to fit the injectors into the rail first then locate the whole lot back into the manifold before bolting down.... or is it better to leave the injectors in the engine and try to tease each one back into the fuel rail?
As removing it caused physical injury (blood everywhere...!!)
I'd rather do this the easy way!

Excellent. That's two votes for method A, so the "A's have it" !
Thanks guys - I'll give it a go, but I have to say that the rail itself seems to be about the most rigid piece of steel piping I've seen outside a scaffolding depot. Does not seem to have any flex at all...
I did the same method with mine as well. It's worth mentioning to have a good sized rag or somesuch to hand, ready for when you put pressure back in the rail, then if you are unfortunate enough to have a leak you can quickly deal with the fuel spray.

I use a little blue hylomar to seal the plenum mating faces. However, just make sure that it is a very thin layer so that when you torque up the bolts the excess does not squeeze out and potentially end up getting sucked into the engine. Vaseline works well for lubricating the injector seals.
