This is not an ad for my TVR as I have already sold it to a dealer for not a lot of money.
All I wanted to know is what other TVR owners thoughts were on unusual/individual colours. Mine was Gold with dark green roof and has won awards at the TVR Back Home meeting for its colour combination and I was always being told how unusual but good the combination was. Although, trying to sell privately was a nightmare, even though I priced it well under what it was really worth. If I ever bought a new one I would now really only consider the common colours because of the residual value, which I think is a shame as it's nice to see something different at meetings!!!!! After all we are TVR owners surely we don't want the same reputation as german car owners. Would you like that in ice silver, platinum silver or just plain old silver , Sir?!!!

Have to say I have never seen a Gold Chimaera, nor have I seen a green roof, couldn't be that bad a combination could it?
Thing is dealers will tell you anything to knock the price down, had it of been Starmist Blue with a blue roof they would have offered you less because 'they are too common Sir'.

Do you have any pictures of it?

As a prospective buyer (well, in a while) I must say some colour combo's on Chimaera's and Griffiths are indeed a bit loud or odd for my taste, and have not aged well IMHO. While I can surely appreciate the particular combination you mentioned on someone else's car and would probably comment on it in a positive way, I wouldn't want to live with it myself.

Me, I'll be on the lookout for Storm Grey or Black...

When my father got rid of his (ahem) BMW, the dealer gave him £1000 less than normal because it was white !

I think Mark's on the money here. A dealer will always tell you the opposite of what you want to hear. Had it been BRG or one of the Starmists, there would have been some other reason for undercutting the real value.

What you want to do is phone the dealer in a couple of weeks and anonymously ask about the gold/green combi Chim they have on their forecourt. Then brace yourself while you listen to various diatribe about how beautiful yet unique the car was.

Don't be afraid of being individual, mate! I had a moonraker with mulberry Chimaera. One dealer tried to offer me far too little for it, but another one loved it and unknowingly paid me a grand over what I had it privately advertised for.

I'm not sure I'd go for that colour myself, but then I doubt I'd have chosen mine either. Now I've got it I love it.

I guess it's just a colour combo that doesn't appeal to everyone.

I had a stardust silver chim with black leather and roof - most people wanted green or blue with doeskin when I was selling.
In fact the owner of fernies told me that my colour combo was unfortunate and not very nice. I told him to stick it up his rear.
I liked it. And others do. Dealers think they know their markets by aiming at the lowest common denominator.

I think people have to see cars in the flesh - then they make their minds up on the spot! (I know I did)
