Exhaust Sleeving question
Discussion
I am considering getting the exhaust on my Chim 400 sleeved. I have read about it on here and had a look and listen on youtube and sounds awesome. I would get it done at Offords as i have read they offer this service but i live in Telford and is a fair way to travel so wanted to get it done locally. I popped down to a local custom exhaust place and the chap said he had never heard of the sleeving as i described it, but would totally remove the silencer and fabricate some pipework from stainless steel which i guess would give a similar effect? Am i right in thinking this? They want £200 for this, pricey or sound reasonable??
What your talking about from your description is a straight-through system where the original perforated pipes are cut out and replaced with "straight-through" (unperforated) pipes.
The surrounding wading is either discarded or not according to taste.
Austec and Dave Batty do this for about £150.

Cheers for the quick feedback, it sounds like the silencer sleeving was exactly how i explained it to the chap at the exhaust place but he said he wouldnt be able to do that only fabricate me a straight through exhaust which i assume is essentially what welding solid pipes into the silencer box is anyway, just without the standard look? I will definately look into getting it done at Top Gear as so far they have been brilliant.
