Door lock solenoids
Discussion
Can any one help me please? my door lock failed on the passenger door so i ordered a new solenoide but the replacement wires are all different colours and the suppier was little help.has anyone come accross this before and know the colour combination please.i have a 98 400. Many thanks Matt
Assuming you have bought a 5 wire motor the wires are easily worked out, two of them are for the "motor" itself, usually a blue and green, or a blue and red - depending on make.
The other three wires are a glorified changeover switch, one way when open, reversed when closed, I have seen all sorts of colours used for those depending on make.
Even if the old one has failed the changeover part of it usually still works.
Check the way the old one works first, then the new one and work it out by elimination.

Going by my previous post I would "guess" that the Spal uses blue & red for the motor.
You could make life easier for yourself by looking for clues at the other side where it is still working.
There are loads of different wiring colour combinations for these door motors, you are asking a lot for someone to remember all of them.
