As posted before my Chim smells of petrol around the filler in the boot, I've checked and tightened all the connections. I've also noticed that the fuel tank seems to be quite pressurised when removing the cap. Could this be the symptoms of a blocked purge valve?

ditto.

i have also found the idling to deteriorate when fuel gets low as if there is a fuel starvation issue.

any ideas

Get in the nose & try blowing it hehe, check if the purge valve is working.. Switch ign on - should see 12v (from main or fuel relay - both have been used at different times) on one pin of the purge valve, ground the other & it should click & purge (thats all the ecu does occasionally).

I had the same problem from the time I bought my Chim in Dec 06. Several trips back to the dealer and nothing could be found. All connections were tightened but it made no difference. If I was travelling with the windows open a bit I could hardly breathe because of the fumes.

I changed the purge valve and canister but this made no difference. I still have the old one that is probably ok if you need one to try.

I eventually loosened the tank from the bodywork and tightened every jubilee clip I could find using a 1/4 inch ratchet and relevant socket. I was able to easily tighten several up compared to using a screwdriver. I was careful not to overtighten them.

I have not had any smell of petrol or any fumes into the car since. It's heaven.
