Check the heater valve down in the passenger footwell to make sure it is closing off.

Meatball. There is a vent above your legs on both the driver's side and the passenger side. There should also be a separate fresh air vent down low on the RHS of the driver's footwell (not sure about later cars). That said, if you turn your heating control to cold, you should not be getting hot or warm air. The valve isn't shutting off corretly.
Some people might tell you that they all do that - they don't.

Hi Ben

The heat valve - follow the pipes as they come from engine bay they do a U shape and end up on the left just behind the dash. Just check that when the heater dial in on cold the valve moves to off and like wise on hot. If not the cable coule have come loose on the dial.

I'd be interested in pictures of this as I've got similar problems in getting ony either hot or very warm air. I've only checked through the windscreen vents but presume it's the same

Ben.
If you open passenger door and kneel down with your head in the foot well, look up into the underside of the dash. You should see some metal pipework and also some rubber pipe which comes through the front bulk head from the engine. The rubber pipe should have a little valve with a small steel wire (like a push bike brake wire) coming from it which then goes up behind the dash to the heater temp control.
Sometimes this wire can come loose at the valve end or the dash dial end.
If you can get your "personal assistant" to turn the dash wheel you should see the valve open and close.
When the dash dial is in the cold position see if you can move the valve any further by hand to the closed position. If you can then the cable requires adjustment to fully close the valve when the dash dial is in the cold position.
All will become clear when you look under the dash.
Hope this helps.
Paul

Perfect, it now blows lukewarm air when switched to cold with the blower on.

Progress indeed.

Many thanks to you both
