Alternator Charging Light Problem

When switching the heater fan onto full the charging warning light lights up on the dash.

My thoughts were that the alternator was on it's way out so I've spent £58 on a new lucas alternator from the local motor factors.

But the problem is still there with the fan!

Could it be an electrical short?

I had a similar problem turned out it was the 100A fuse (located under the car on the chassis raid opposite side to the sump plug).
